Uncovering the Infinite and the Metaphysical Blueprint of Creation

Before the world was, there was only Ein Sof—the Infinite. Beyond time, space, thought, and differentiation, Ein Sof is the unknowable source from which all being emanates. In this deep metaphysical course, we explore the pre-creation reality, the process of emanation, and the fundamental structures that give rise to existence.

Using The Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah by Baal HaSulam (Rabbi Yehuda Ashlag) as our primary guide, students will study the Lurianic teachings of the Arizal, made accessible through Ashlag’s clear, systematic presentation. Supplementary readings will include selections from Etz Chaim, the Zohar, and the works of the Ramchal and Leshem—creating a multi-layered journey into the mysteries of divine reality.

In this course, students will explore:

  • The concept of Ein Sof: the limitless source of all being

  • The process of Tzimtzum (Divine contraction) and the birth of space and separation

  • Kav (the line of divine light), Reshimu (residual imprint), and Igulim and Yosher (circular vs. linear order)

  • The emergence of the Sefirot and the structure of divine attributes

  • The Kabbalistic meaning of divine unity (Yichud) amid apparent multiplicity

  • The metaphysical model of emanation: Ohr (light), Kli (vessel), and Hishtalshelut (chain of descent)

  • How divine will (Ratzon) and the soul’s desire (Ratzon L’kabel) originate in the Infinite

  • The interface between Ein Sof and human spiritual development

Far from abstract speculation, this course gives students a framework for understanding the origins of self, creation, and the ongoing process of divine revelation. It is ideal for serious students of Kabbalah who wish to grasp the cosmic and spiritual foundations of all existence.

Course Workload and Expectations

This is a 3-credit, 12-week seminary-level course requiring approximately 6–9 hours of engagement per week. Due to the advanced metaphysical nature of this material, the course is designed to foster both rigorous intellectual discipline and contemplative spiritual integration.

Weekly workload includes:

  • Assigned readings from The Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah by Baal HaSulam, along with selected excerpts from Etz Chaim, Zohar, and writings of the Ramchal and Leshem

  • Video lectures providing structured explanations, visual diagrams, and guided interpretations of abstract concepts such as Tzimtzum, Kav, and Hishtalshelut

  • Weekly written assignments designed to clarify terminology and sequence the metaphysical process of emanation

  • Short essays addressing theological implications of Ein Sof, unity, and divine concealment

  • Journaling and diagramming exercises to help internalize cosmological structure and reflect on one’s place in creation

  • Weekly discussion check-ins or reflections submitted to the course administrator

  • A final integrative project—such as a thematic diagram, teaching outline, or comparative essay—demonstrating comprehension of the process from Ein Sof to structured creation

This course meets the academic expectations of a graduate-level Kabbalistic theology program. Students will not only gain intellectual mastery of foundational mystical concepts, but also begin to relate to their own soul and reality through the lens of divine emanation and the Infinite.

This course is also available for 100% online, self-paced personal study, and may be purchased individually for those seeking personal spiritual growth and character development outside of a formal degree program. Mentorship is available for this course at an additional cost.

NOTE: This class is temporarily unavailable to new students until AFTER you've completed the prerequisite class: Spiritual Attainment in Jewish Kabbalah.
